We started working on this project in 2009. Since then, we have undertaken detailed survey with users and consumers all over India. We also conducted briefing sessions with Oil Marketing Companies including the PSU marketing companies as well as the private sector players like Reliance and Essar.
Subsequently we have presented the technology to officials of the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Rural Development, and the Ministry of Commerce & Industries. Also, we have obtained buy-in from various state authorities.
The positive feedback from all stakeholders prompted us to proceed on our long journey towards commercialization of the concept in the Indian market as well as potentially in various other countries in Asia.
In the retail space we expect very positive demand in highly urbanized areas with a tech-savvy young population, as well as in hilly areas in states like Jammu, HP, Uttarakhand, Northeast etc. where space it at a premium. Apart from the retail segment, we sense significant demand of this technology in the B2B space, especially with major consumers like the Indian Railways, Defence and State Transport organizations.
From a socio-economic perspective, the portable pump franchise opportunity could well be a new trend, fuelling the SME entrepreneurial/start-up ecosystem, which is a major thrust area for economic development of ‘atmanirvar’ India.
